The Worst Type of Collision To Be in Is A:

Rollover accident. Generally speaking, rollovers have a higher fatality rate than other kinds of crashes. While only 2.1% of accidents involved a rollover in 2010, rollovers accounted for nearly 35% of the year’s traffic fatalities. In 2018, a total of 6,583 passenger vehicle occupants died in rollover crashes.

Any time a car or truck tips onto its side or roof during a crash, the crash is considered a rollover. This type of accident can lead drivers and passengers to be ejected from the vehicle, increasing the likelihood of both fatal and non-fatal injuries. Most rollovers involve a pre-rollover impact or collision and the majority of rollovers are caused by driver behavior.

Head on Collision

The second worst type of accident to be in is a head on collision. These occur any time 2 cars driving in opposite directions crash into each other. Many times, drivers cause head-on collisions by driving on the wrong side of the road or driving under the influence. In 2017, head on collisions caused 3,471 fatal crashes and made up 10.1% of roadway fatalities.

When facing a head on collision, you need to contact our attorneys as soon as possible.

T-Bone Accident

Also called side-impact collisions, T-bone car accidents occur most frequently at intersections and during left-hand turns. They can also take place when negligent drivers run red lights and/or fail to yield the right of way. A T-bone accident can be especially dangerous because all that stands between you and the other vehicle is a door and a window. Car design and manufacturing may save your life during this type of collision, but defective airbags can put you at risk.

Rear End Collision

According to The Washington Post, there are about 1.7 million rear-end collisions on U.S. roadways each year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) claims they are the most common type of collision and account for about 29% of all car accidents. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) supports this statistic, showing that nearly half of all two-vehicle crashes between 2012 and 2014 were rear-end accidents. This type of car crash also made up 7.2% of fatal accidents in 2017.

Rear end collisions are frequently caused by driver inattention and tailgating, and the in-front driver is rarely at fault. Victims often sustain broken bones, concussions, and soft-tissue injuries from this type of car crash.

Fender Bender

Fortunately, fender benders don’t usually lead to fatalities. Unfortunately, they are notorious for causing whiplash and other soft tissue injuries, many of which emerge when the adrenaline of the initial collision has worn off. While it may be tempting to skip calling the police and/or your insurance company, you should document your fender bender as if it were any other type of accident. If you do end up with an injury, you will need a good lawyer. Defendants often accuse those injured in fender benders of exaggerating or even faking their ailments. At KP Law, we have access to leading expert witnesses, who can provide ample evidence of your injuries in a court of law.
